renewable solar and wind power

By 2030, renewable solar and wind power will become more economical than gas and coal, according to Australian researchers at UNSW. A new study has shown that all fossil-fuelled power stations in Australia’s National Electricity Market could be phased out and replaced cheaply and reliably with commercially available renewable energy technologies.
Bridge Generating Green Energy using Innovative Very Efficient Wind Turbine.

Check out wind-loving designer Michael Jantzen’s newest invention, a wind tunnel footbridge. Jantzen thinks it’ll be cool to have a bridge that doubles as a modern windmill in museums and public parks around the world. The five giant wheels have blades on them that spin according to surrounding winds, and the power generated by then can presumably be used to produce energy. I could see one in the Parc de la Villette in Paris, or maybe in Odaiba, Tokyo, but I think it might look a little gaudy elsewhere.
